NRA Basic CCW Course

November 11, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Even if you already have a Concealed Carry License, do you know how to draw from a concealed holster and shoot accurately and safely? I am offering the NRA CCW course on 11 November.

The course teaches the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry a concealed pistol for personal defense. The NRA CCW Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation. This instructor-led only course gives you direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end and will be conducted in a classroom and on a shooting range with an Instructor. Course topics include: Firearm Safety (Mandatory), Pistol Nomenclature and Selecting a Pistol for Self-Defense, Basic Defensive Pistol Skills, Drawing from Concealment, and Loading and Stoppage Remediation.

Additionally, students will complete a live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA Certified Instructor. Students will receive reference books, take a NRA CCW Student Examination and receive a course completion certificate bearing the signature of the NRA Secretary and your NRA Certified Instructor.
The cost of the course ($110) includes $30 worth of NRA material.

Students must bring their own lunch. We will have a working lunch. No live ammunition is allowed in the classroom. After the classroom work is completed students will walk to an adjacent range and will shoot a practice qualification and then shoot the NRA CCW course of fire. Students will have the opportunity to load, fire and unload each firearm in accordance with NRA Rules for Safely Handling a firearm. Each student must supply their own firearm, a side holster, three magazines and a magazine holster that holds two magazines. In addition, each student must have 250 rounds of ammunition for their pistol. Successful completion of the course will be accompanied by an NRA certificate that provides the student with the necessary document required to apply for Concealed Carry License in the State of Florida.

You can register for the course at the NRA website here or you may contact Larry Johnson at lcjohnson1@me.com or (301) 442-5957.
