What are the safety rules for shooters at a shooting range?
All guns should be treated as if they are loaded at all times. Point the muzzle in a safe direction, keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to shoot, wear eye and ear protection and always follow the instructions of the Range Safety Officers. MGAC requires that all firearms be unloaded and cased upon arrival at the range.
Do I have to bring my own gun to shooting training classes?
Depending on the class being offered, training opportunities may differ. It is advisable to contact MGAC prior to your visit to check on the availability of training programs and equipment requirements.
What kinds of guns can I bring to your shooting range?
MGAC allows pistol, rifle, shotgun, PCC and other approved firearms with range-specific rules on ammunition and safe firearm handling. Certain types of ammunition, such as incendiary and armor-piercing rounds against steel targets, are prohibited.
Can beginners learn to shoot rifles and pistols?
Yes. MGAC welcomes new shooters as well as experienced gun owners. The club provides a safe environment with range Safety Officers and training suitable for all levels of experience.
What to Know Before Your First Visit to the Shooting Range?
When you arrive, you’ll check in at the clubhouse, fill out the necessary waiver and be directed by staff before entering the range. While on the range, always wear eye and ear protection, obey all posted safety rules, and follow all instructions given by the Range Safety Officer.
