About the club

Built by members. Run by volunteers. Since the 1970s.

Manatee Gun & Archery Club is a member-owned shooting sports club on 350 acres in Myakka City, Florida. A handful of sportsmen started it as a safe place to shoot. More than five decades later it is one of the most active ranges in the state, and it still runs the same way: members build it, volunteers run it, and everyone is welcome at the gate.

Our story

From a rural firing line to Florida's home range

Manatee Gun and Archery Club was founded in the early 1970s by a small group of sportsmen who wanted a safe place to practice and share their passion for shooting sports. What began as a modest range in rural Manatee County steadily grew as members volunteered their time, built facilities, and welcomed new disciplines of shooting.

Over the decades, the club expanded from a handful of firing lines into a diverse facility supporting rifle, pistol, shotgun, and archery, while also hosting competitive events and training opportunities. Today, MGAC stands as one of Florida's most respected shooting clubs, rooted in its tradition of volunteerism and community while continuing to grow with new programs, improved facilities, and a strong membership base that carries forward the founders' vision.

Vision & mission

Why the club exists

Core values

The standard we hold ourselves to

These ten values are the working rules for every officer, staff member and volunteer at MGAC. They are what you should expect from us on every visit.

Safety at the core of everything

Safety first. We are trusted with people's safety. We follow club rules, enforce them with professionalism, and lead by example. Safety is our top priority and non-negotiable.

Accountability & integrity

Own it. We follow and enforce all club policies and procedures, and we hold staff, volunteers and members to the highest standards of accountability and integrity, on and off the range.

Greet every guest like family

Smile. Make eye contact and offer a warm welcome. Treat each person like they belong here, because they do.

Mutual respect

Every individual is valued and treated with dignity. Staff and volunteers uphold an environment of trust, camaraderie and constructive communication with each other and with our members.

Be proactively helpful

Ask first, then get engaged. Don't just watch or wait. Anticipate needs and check in with members and guests regularly to make sure they're having a great experience.

Share the full range offering

We are the sum of all our parts. We make sure every visitor knows about the benefits of membership and the full lineup of ranges, matches and programs.

Professionalism in every interaction

Be a pro. Stay composed, respectful and polite, even under pressure. Our words, appearance and behavior reflect the organization.

Solution oriented

Don't bring a problem without a solution. Problems get raised with a proposed fix attached.

Handle challenges with positivity and purpose

Positive mental attitude. When issues arise, listen actively, stay calm, and focus on solutions. Turn problems into opportunities to impress.

Never stop improving

Willing. Be open to feedback, training and growth. We rise together when we push ourselves to get better every day.

Our story

Growing with our members

Over the decades, MGAC expanded from a handful of firing lines into a diverse outdoor facility serving shooters and archers across the region. The club continues to invest in improved facilities, new programs and opportunities to build skill.

That growth remains rooted in the founders’ original vision: a safe place where people can enjoy the shooting sports together.
